Using the Notice & Wonder Method to Study the Bible |The Cain & Abel Edition

Have you ever really read the Cain and Abel story closely? It has some strange things in it! Do you have more in common with Cain or Abel or maybe you relate more to Eve? Join me as we gain new insight into a familiar story.
Review
After succumbing to the snake’s temptation, Genesis 3 ends with Adam and Eve being exiled from the garden and the Tree of Life. In order to prevent them from going back God puts two cherubim with flaming swords guarding the path to the tree. For further information on Genesis 3 check out my blog posts:

Notice and Wonder

Now in Genesis 4, we are introduced to Eve’s progeny: Cain and Abel. Before beginning our study take your time to read Genesis 4: 1-6 in one or more translations. Record your Noticings and Wonderings in the chart below. I encourage you to start with the translation that you typically use and then read the story in another translation. When doing a deep dive into Scripture, I like to use Young’s Literal Translation which can be found at Bible Gateway along with many other translations. So take a moment to STOP reading this post and do the work on your own!
